Blwyddyn o Ddigidol Dyfi Digital: Dathlu Ein Prosiect Cymunedol
Cyflwyniad
O wao, a allwch gredu ei fod bron wedi bod yn flwyddyn ers inni lansio Digidol Dyfi Digital gyda chefnogaeth Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol? Mae wedi bod yn daith ddiddorol iawn, ac rydym yn gyffrous i rannu ein antur gyda chi. Yn y bost blog hon, byddwn yn datgelu manylion ein prosiectau cymunedol, yn tynnu sylw at ein cyflawniadau, ac yn myfyrio ar y gwersi rydym wedi'u dysgu ar hyd y ffordd.
Yn ein cynnig gwreiddiol i Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri, dywedasom y byddem yn rhedeg popeth trwy wefan ganolog (dx3.cymru), a gwnaethom hynny i ddechrau, ond yn fuan y daeth yn amlwg er bod y enw'n gweithio fel athroniaeth ganolog ar gyfer yr hyn a wnawn, roedd ychydig yn ddryswch i bobl yn ein cymuned sy'n arfer bod pethau'n fwy canolig. Felly, yn hytrach na defnyddio un wefan a un enw ar gyfer popeth, penderfynom rannu'r prosiect i rannau canolbwyntiedig gyda grwpiau llywio ar gyfer pob un, fel y gallai pobl gymryd rhan yn y gweithgaredd digidol y maent wir yn diddordeb ynddo. Daeth Digidol Dyfi Digital yn ymbarél i dri math o weithgarwch a ddaeth o'r cyllid gan Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol: Radio Dyfi, Sos Coch Sienma, a Screen Works. Os ydych yn drysu, nid ydym yn eich colli, ond dyna'r hyn sydd wedi ein helpu i wneud i'r prosiect gael yr effaith fwyaf yn ein cymuned. Rydym wedi rhannu gweddill yr adroddiad hwn yn dri adran sy'n archwilio pob math o weithgaredd Digidol Dyfi Digital.

Mae "Clwb Fideo - Creu Fideo Digidol"
"Clwb Fideo" is a voluntary video-making club that welcomes participants of all ages, abilities, and levels of experience. The club collaboratively gathers material and labor resources to create videos on topics that are important to its members. The club originated from the realization that the nearest center for borrowing equipment for community video projects was in Cardiff, which is over a 3-hour drive away!
The project emerged from the Digidol Dyfi Digital Lottery Community Funded initiative, which aims to bring people together through digital workshops, collaborative opportunities, and events. Lottery funding was used to purchase two editing monitors and speakers. Currently, the group borrows video equipment from Visual Impact in Cardiff as part of Visual Impact's community outreach. The camera accessories distributor Videnum has also supported the club by donating a tripod and video lights.
Clwb Fideo recently received a £3000 award split over two years from the Powys Association for Voluntary Organisation's young person-led group award. This funding is intended for equipment purchase and website development.
The collaborative and diverse nature of skills required for video-making in the community provides an excellent avenue for increasing social connectedness, upskilling, and creating employment opportunities. While many current members are experienced video makers, the collective is open to all levels and encourages the participation of enthusiastic individuals who want to try something new, meet like-minded individuals, and work on ambitious projects that matter to them.
The club has a steering group of 18 young adults dedicated to video work for online, TV, and cinema. Over the past year, they have organized 24 workshops, partnering with the local secondary school, scout groups, and conducting film school-style workshops. They have produced a compelling 10-minute documentary about community gardens and several short films screened at Sos Coch Sinema events, generating excitement around locally made films.
Successes
Clwb Fideo has achieved remarkable success in community engagement, having produced seven short films that were all locally screened. The solid and enthusiastic group of members demonstrates the project's appeal and readiness for more action. Despite being in its early stages, Clwb Fideo has made notable progress, showcasing several short films over the last 12 months, as highlighted in the showreel above. Additionally, a workshop series was conducted with Ysgol Bro Hyddgen to create a music video with their LGBTQI+ group (still in production).
Learnings
While the initial plan was to purchase video equipment with lottery funds, the realization that quality video equipment is expensive led to a successful partnership with Visual Impact Cardiff, an equipment rental company. However, the logistical challenge of an 8-hour road trip to collect the borrowed equipment has prompted the search for funding to acquire their own gear. Screen Works is gaining momentum, and there's a desire to elevate it to the next level. The borrowed equipment from Visual Impact is valued at approximately £30,000, necessitating a significant funding drive for replacement.
One key learning is the need for better documentation of the project's activities. The acknowledgment that more photos and surveys are essential for improved feedback aligns with the practices of other DX3 projects.
To get involved with Clwb Fideo, individuals are encouraged to reach out via [email protected]. The project also provides a membership form for those interested in joining, and further exploration of the project can be done through the Clusta collection at https://app.clusta.live/clwb-fideo.
Conclusion
Our inaugural year at Digidol Dyfi Digital has been an exhilarating journey. Beginning with the ambitious idea of operating through a central website, we quickly adapted to our community's preference for focused initiatives.
The project was divided into three parts: Radio Dyfi, Sos Coch Sinema, and Screen Works, each with its steering group. Radio Dyfi has evolved into our community radio hub, offering over 50 workshops, generating 1,000 hours of content, and seamlessly integrating radio into our community's daily life.
Sos Coch Sinema successfully addressed the cinematic gap in our remote community with 60 screenings in 15 venues, fostering social connections and reducing loneliness. Thanks to lottery funding, our portable cinema now reaches village halls, bringing cinematic experiences closer to our residents.
Swn Dyfi Sound's debut at Derwenlas Village Hall met local demand for high-quality music experiences, enhancing community connections. The enthusiasm of participants indicates potential for regular attendance, and identified areas for improvement will guide the initiative's growth in mid-Wales.
While Clwb Fideo has taken more time to develop compared to other Digidol Dyfi Digital projects, it is quickly becoming the most in-demand project due to the clear shortage of available equipment for community video projects in Mid Wales. The project requires additional funding to fully flourish, addressing the challenge of equipment availability in the region.
We express gratitude for the support and partnerships from our community. If you wish to join us in the future, feel free to reach out at [email protected]. Here's to another year of celebrating our community through Digidol Dyfi Digital!
Thanks for being part of our journey! And a special thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund for having faith in our project! If you have questions or want to join us, drop us a line via the contact form. We look forward to hearing from you! :)
